Love Story 1

Anirudh was a short height person trying to find out a suitable match. He was not very outspoken. He once told his mother that now he is working, earning a good amount, so he should marry. The mother agreed upon his idea.

Once he took upon a solo journey via train, and road. He boarded the train alone for Guwahati.

Inside the train, he spotted his berth and laid down for a while, despite it being a day time. He took a nap. There was no one to disturb him . Soon he heard a very beautiful voice, "May I sit here?"

To this he could not deny, he said , "Please, make yourself comfortable"

The girl silently sat down. He lifted the hair strands which were falling above her eyes. Her eyes was constantly looking downward. She was too shy to initiate the conversation, Anirudh felt.

Anirudh tried to break the silence as he found her striking beautiful.

"Are you going to Guwahati ?"

"No" She said. This made Anirudh a bit hesitant to ask further

"Then, Where?"

"To  New Jalpaiguri" She confirmed raising her eyelids a bit and looking into his eyes for a while.

"I see, is it your home?"

"No, I live here in Purnia."

"That is great. Why New Jalpaiguri?"

"Please do not ask me personal questions. I am bit worried. Mind your work."

Anirudh felt her words rude. She was not looking into his eyes and started trifling away with small bag that was on her lap. She took out the water bottle from the bag, poured one ounce of water into her mouth and expressed complete detachment like Lord Shiva poured the poison in his mouth completely unaffected.

Anirudh started feeling drowsy not wanting to talk to her further. He extended his legs further as if wanting to sleep, ignoring the pain her remarks gave him. He wanted to ask her to vacate the berth so that he could lie down in a complete relaxed position.

Soon he heard her voice, "I want to marry a guy, my parents do not want me to get married to him. So I am going to meet him without telling my parents. This is making me anxious"

Anirudh's ears got pricked. He wanted to forget the rude remarks and became curious to know about it further.

"Why your parents do not agree for it?" I asked trying to sit again, half-lying on the berth, half occupied by the girl.

"Because I am a Brahmin. He is scheduled caste." Her words made him more curious.

"Ok. Which Brahmin you are?"

" I am Gaudiya Brahmin. Born and brought up in Kolkata."

"Are you a Bengali?" Anirudh asked trying to further invade into her privacy.

"No, My family is from Bihar. We later shifted to Kolkata."

Other co passengers were looking at them with doubts due to the engaging conversation they were having.

"Still its difficult to marry outside caste due to conservative attitude of people. We cant change the attitude." Anirudh sounded philosophical and diabolical.

But he continued, " You should go ahead if you really love him."

"No, I am planning to just meet him one last time. I can't risk his life. They will kill him" she said with watery eyes.

Anirudh tried to console her, "Elope with him. But it would be even more dangerous and risky. I am not in favour of losing the love anyways"

"Will you come with me to meet him. This will prevent any risky situation that may arise if someone sees us."

Anirudh was not very sure of this. Her emotions had caught his attention well. So he confirmed her.

" Ok. I will come with you"

They both deboarded the train at New Jalpaiguri. Anirudh had started feeling a strange feeling of affection and love for the girl. He did not want her to marry the guy she was going to meet.

Bus diaries

A journey from Katihar to Kursela on a public transport for the service to people can be really satisfying.

I undertake the journey on a regular basis to keep my mind busy on people, on  farm lands, on cattle moving, on the tea sellers and so on. It makes me poignant, to observe the fearful faces, and a lot of expectations they have from the fellow people as well as the Government.

The Government definitely works within its limits for the people. It gives them subsidised ration, cheap electricity, subsidised LPG cylinders and so on. Central and State Governments combined are responsible for the assigned work, for the people choose them once every five years.

While travelling on the bus, I reflect, whether people are really happy from inside.

Many persons are standing on the bus floor, while undertaking the journey.  Does it say that number of buses plying are less or the population is more ?

Even cattle is boarded on the bus, but they are not allowed by the owner of the bus. This speaks of the economic dependence of the people on livestock, and low or nil earnings from other sources.

Encountering same faces are difficult, that means majority who board the buses do not return back or take this mode of transport on an another day. This means a large chunk of them often migrates to nearby towns like Purnia, or neighbouring villages.

Government must address the above socio economic issues at the earliest so that their quality of life improves.

Why do you think socialism will not be good for India?

Socialism, is when the state owns the factors of production, and distributes the produce among the people. People has no ownership. For when there is no ownership, different sections of the society: businessmen, farmers, women, traders, capitalists, suffer. Suffering is because of the same reasons, when our country was dependent on the britishers, for they never considered any policy for the benefit of the countrymen, but for their own good.

The britishers introduced railways, that was for their own benefits, to transport the british products from one corner of the country to other. This was a sort of socialist economy, where the people had no ownership on even modes of transport. Land revenue settlement policies ensured that farmers remain landless, without any profits, when they tilled land to produce more. The entire produce had to go to the state. The zamindars took a cut in between. Hence, though british claimed themselves as the capitalist empire, had downgraded the economy, for they adopted policies which were inherently socialistic. India should refrain from going back to those days.

Women will suffer, because they will have no rights on the land, still do not enjoy in many areas, due to patriarchal rights. Traders and businessman will suffer; since they can not reap their own profits. For the same reason, capitalists, who have established big business firms, such as Tatas, Birlas, Mahindras will suffer.

Apart from them, different sections of the society such as tourism, medical, health, party system in India, urban areas, even rural areas will suffer.

Tourism will suffer because, the tourists will be charged heftily. When there is competition in the market due to capitalist economy, the private sector try to be reasonable with prices. This will stop once socialism will creep in. This will demotivate the tourists and India will fail to attract tourists. Even domestic tourism will be affected. The GDP of the country will be affected; and it will experience a dip; because of low contribution from tourism sector.

Medical sector will also be affected. For most of the Indians live in rural areas, there is always a shortage of the doctors in primary and secondary heath facilities. There is also a dearth of medical professionals, medical kits, for example, dialysis machines, medicines that cure life threatening diseases like cancer, diabetes, HIV. Knowing this, socialism for india can not be suggested, ever. Socialistic control over human resources, such as doctors, as well as , over medicines and medical kits, will ensure their poor availability for the masses. Russia, for example , is a socialistic country, but does not grapple with this problem of making the latter available for the masses, due to low population density. After second world war, Russian population decreased. It is still struggling with the problem of  low birth rate. The population in the country is ageing. China, a  communist country, is ageing, too. So, it is better to keep aside the suggestion of a socialistic state for India.

Indian political system, in the socialistic pattern, suffers the risk of turning into a one party rule. Economies such as Venezuela, which is socialistic, suffer from the dominant one party problem, hyper inflation, despite the largest reserves of oil in the world. Whom to blame: socialism or one party rule? Both are interdependent. It is unwise to pull any one of the two and attribute the cause of the economic down spiral of the nation. India, on the other hand is doing well with multi party system. It has evolved with time, since independence. In 1952, in the first general election, there was only two major parties, Congress and Communist Party of India. With time, CPI was marginalized. It restricted itself to a regional party: in states like West Bengal, Kerela. Congress won the first general election, only to split into multiple factions in 1970s.

Split occurred due to different ideologies, within the same party. This split is difficult to take place in a socialistic set up. And when there is no counter currents of ideologies,
dictatorship emerges, only to bring agony to the masses. Socialism soon turn into  fascism, as evident in Nazism in Germany, and fascism in Italy. Adolf Hitler in Germany, and Mussolini in Italy, were never accepted by the masses.
Democracy in India is doing well in India, owing to the constitutional safeguards.

Solution lies in strengthening democracy, and not proposing socialism. The constitution, laws of the land, rule of law will steer India into a powerful democracy. USA president, Donald Trump, recently said that, he never proposes socialism for the nation. He is right, for USA, is a major proponent of democracy in the world, and so is India, the land of Buddha and  Lichchavis, a democratic Mahajanapad.

So,  let us not suggest socialism for India. Because it is not in the good interest of nation.

Tell us new ways of curbing corruption in the district.

  1.  The district collector should walk on roads with platoon, ensuring safety security  and shouting, the corruption should be killed
  2. Mock drills on road, Just like youth parliaments, sessions of corruption to be held
  3. Mughal rule, guptas, harppan period culture to be emulated where besided patwari and all adminsitrative offcials, rule book of cinstituiton and IPC, CrPC to be made available to the citizens
  4. No looking at any other districts, best practices to be self developed because problems are unique to every district
  5. IMulti dscipilinary approach to tackle, weed out corruption from every administative department, agriculture, schools, hospitals , railways and so o. For that IPC and CrPC will help

A people that value its privileges above its principles loses both.

Army major asks its platoon,"How's the josh", the platoon shouts in chorus, "High Sir!" He repeats, 'How is the josh??', the platoon shouts back in double the volume, "High Sir!!"

This is the value system (principle) that is incorporated in the army personnels. They are charged up. They take the arms in their hand, shouts at the enemies and save their motherland, by killing them. When they are doing so, they do not care about the privileges. The privileges of being a uniform person. Of being in army, of being in elite services. The services do offer them privileges, special rights, not offered to the ordinary population: the army, however, places the duty to serve the nation above them.

The example is from army, which is a group of people with the same mentality. A societal set up. They have armed forces tribunal, hierarchy, motivational session, yogic sessions, drill exercises and so on. So a perfect society that is aware of its principles and its privileges. If they place the privileges above their principles, the next day they lose respect. Then they will lose both principles and privileges.

Lets go back in time. In pre historic times, the principles were different. They lived together, they ate together. The rock paintings in Bhimbetka in Madhya Pradesh reflected their principles. The red oxide paintings which still exist, show how their merry making activities together. There basic principles were to support each other, in the marriages, in collecting food, in hunting. The privileges of the society to give the more learned more food, or the more powerful to get more food, would have crippled the society. The society would have lost both.

This is emphatically true because there is always increase in the randomness, starting from the days of big bang. Randomness increase in this order: first big bang, then stars, then atoms, then supernova explosion, then elements, then unicellular organism, then multicellular organism like dinasours, then amphibians, then humans. In the same order, the next level has borrowed something from their previous level. Similarly, in present times, as society progresses, it  learns from its ancestors. The learning is from principles and not the privileges. So, the society, which has valued its principles higher than its privileges have survived. The society, which has placed privileges higher than their principles have perished, because they have lost both.

There are excellent mythological examples to support this.
Ikshavaku dynasty in the Northern empire, of which Lord Rama was a part. Then Mahabharata period. Let us take them one by one.

In Ramayana, Lord Ram always values his principles above his privileges. He believed, his first principle was to listen to his father. To listen to his mother Kaikayi. So when King Dashrath hesitantly asked his son for exile for 14 years, he did not hesitate. He was elder son of the king. Se he was privileged to be the king of the empire. But he placed his principles above his privileges. Then he left for the forest. Instead he fulfilled his mother's wish. Bharat had to be the next king.
Had he placed privileges above the principles, then the empire would have lost both. The principles and privileges. This is true if we think deeply. Because he was exiled, Raavan captured Sita. Only then Lord Ram could kill Ravan. So triumph of god over evil could be possible.

Similarly in Mahabharat, Lord Krishna valued his principles above his privileges in the the great Dharmayudha. He was privileged to use the weapons in the war. But he did not use it. Because he was almighty. He had already declared, he will not pick up a single arm in the war. And so he valued his principles more than his privileges. If had chosen the other way round, the war would have ended within a second. But the dharma would not have been established. The triumph of good over evil would have faded. Similar arguments can be held for the society. For a society that places principles over its privileges will eventually lose both.

Let us come to democracy. In present times, the society has principles and privileges both.
The principles of the society are deeply engraved in them. These may have origin from their ancestors. Some of them may be customary. Some of them may be a result of the governance, good governance, in fact. In all of these, let us pick up principles which benefit the society in the long run. Like maintaining peace and order, helping someone needy in the society are principles , to name a few. They must be placed above the privileges of the society.

The privileges may come from the rule book of society (in self ruled scheduled areas via autonomous district councils), from the statutes of the states, or from the provisions of the constitution. These privileges are not the driving force. The driving force comes from the principles. If one person from society helps the other, the other will help some other person and so on. A chain process will start. The goodness will travel like explosion. Then the privileges will come to rescue when the link gets broken. Suppose, a person is not able to help the other person, in his or her marriage. Then the autonomous councils can frame rules of marriage. Though they will have to be confirmed by the governor of the state. But the goodness will travel.

If it happens the other way round, where
* The laws become prime moving force, people are not self motivated
* When the privileges have over empowered the people, that people start becoming self centered. Selfish.
Then there will be erosion of the  institutions, erosion of principles further to an extent that both will be lost in due course of time.

In that case, we will need someone to yell and shout, " How's the josh?"
Then people may start afresh, shouting, "High Sir!"

Difficult to comprehend.

It is difficult to understand the reasons behind this.
