Bhattaa and Blaaast Furnace !

Do not confuse by the the word 'and' between BHATTAA and BLAST FURNACE. They are the same except the mere difference that one is hindi and most widely used word in Tata Steel premises and the other word is english translation. However, IT is important to know one subtle difference between them, that when you visit villages, you may come across lot of Brick Furnaces which are used for making bricks. The word has derived from there. I remember whenever I go around my village, I see a trishul like object arching upwards in order to prevent it from getting turned into ashes due to lightning. I t serves as the best conductor of electricity as compared to the non conductor bricks upon which they are mounted. Blast Furnaces, since, are the tallest structures in any steel plant, it is no wrong to term them 'Bhattaa'. However, it is important to know that they are not made up of bricks but are steel ovens which are lined on inner walls with bricks made of magnesia.
